Having a PC or laptop that starts up slowly is a pain. We have things to do, jobs to complete, games to play, but when it takes over 5 minutes to start up our Windows PC or laptop, it reaches a point beyond irritating.
Let's run through the best tips to help your Windows PC or laptop load up faster.
Check for viruses and malware
Whether you have your own third party virus protection, or you opt for Windows Defender, it is always worth checking to see if any dangerous files, malware or harmful viruses have lodged onto your PC or laptop. Give your anti-virus a chance to clean these up for a little while and your start up time may begin to decrease.

Some good anti-virus software out there include McAfee and Kaspersky anti-virus.
Disable apps during start-up
Sometimes a big reason for your Windows PC or laptop starting up slowly is due to so many apps being loaded during start-up. They will be added as apps running in the background once you get to the Windows home screen (after you have logged onto your device). By disabling these, you give your Windows device less background apps to execute upon start-up, therefore it is likely to help shorten the time it takes to start up your Windows PC or laptop.

To disable apps during start-up, search Task Manager into your Windows search bar, head to the start-up column, and right-click on any apps you see that aren't essential upon start-up, such as certain games and apps you may have downloaded, but use rarely - Then click the disable button.
Upgrade your RAM

Yes, this costs money, but it will not only improve your start up speeds, but also enhance your experience for other activities like multi-tasking between applications, or playing games while streaming with less lag, or even faster rendering speeds for video projects.
Most basic PCs and laptops nowadays have 4 GB of RAM installed, if you double this capacity, you'll most likely see a big improvement in the start-up times on your device.
Uninstall uneccessary applications
If you have games and applications that you no longer use, or aren't really crucial for the day-to-day uses of your time on your Windows PC or laptop, uninstall them! A PC will run slowly as it begins running the majority of applications upon start-up. By giving your device less applications to run, start up should theoretically become quicker, and so will all of the other uses of your Windows device.

To uninstall programs, type into the Windows search bar add or remove programs, left-click on any apps you don't think you need, then click uninstall.
Invest in a SSD drive

A SSD drive (solid-state-drive) is basically a portable hard drive where you can store all of the applications and operating systems onto it, from your device. It works as a non-volatile RAM, so your entire device data stays in place even when it is shut off. The advantage of this is that much less programs are required to load upon start up, which dramatically decreases the start-up time overall.
SSD drives cost around $100-$150, so although not cheap, they are the most obvious choice to improve start-up, loading and shut down speeds.
